Please read the following notes if your child is participating in festival choir for grades 4th, 5th, & 6th. They leave at 7:30 Monday, March 3rd, with the concert at 4:00 at the Mitchell High School Performing Arts Center. Your child was given these notes today to bring home. If they do not bring them home, please print them off, as two of these notes need to be signed and returned to Mrs. Stoebner. Thanks!

The 8th grade science has been experimenting different chemical reactions. They combined different liquids and solids to see how the chemical reactions affected temperature. After discussing how cold packs help with injuries and are done through a chemical reaction, they then used this information to create their own cold packs.

Awesome Summer Opportunities are available for students interested in the Military. I am sharing them here rather than directly with students as they require travel and expense, but need-based scholarships are available. Opportunity 1: Summer Leader Experience (SLE) View Flyer This one-week program is designed for current high school juniors, offering them a unique opportunity to experience life as a Cadet at West Point. The action-packed week will be challenging and rewarding, with participants participating in hands-on academic workshops, physical and mental challenges, intramurals, and the Candidate Fitness Assessment. Applications for SLE open on February 15, and selections will be made on a rolling basis starting March 15. Completing this application also fulfills the first portion of the application to West Point. West Point provides scholarships to cover the costs of SLE fees and travel expenses for students who have proven financial need. Learn more here: https://www.westpoint.edu/admissions/summer-program Opportunity 2: Summer STEM Workshops For 6th through 9th grade students, West Point will host its annual Summer STEM Workshops. During these workshops, students will explore the Academy grounds, experience cadet life, and participate in a variety of hands-on STEM activities. Workshop topics include human physiology, fuel cell cars, propellants, robotics, cantilevers, soldering circuits, fish biodiversity, water chemistry, meteorology, egg drop engineering, data analytics, and more. Applications for Summer STEM are open now through February 28, 2025. For more information: https://www.westpoint.edu/research/west-point-werx/center-for-leader-development-in-stem

Congratulations to our High School POWER Student of the Month for February. Students are nominated for exemplifying/practicing the POWER expectations. Beberlin was nominated for the following reasons -Beberlin is a student that is dedicated to learning! She works very hard to excel in every class. She completes her assignments on time and always seeks out help if she needs it. She uses all her resources to be successful with her work. She never gives up! Beberlin is also a joy to be around. She has a friendly and thoughtful personality. Other students enjoy working with her because she so helpful. Beberlin is also involved in Winter Guard, which shows her school spirit. She is very deserving of this award!
