Read Across America Week is celebrated nationwide March 3-7. To join in the celebration of reading and the joy of books, we've organized a few simple dress up days as part of our celebration. We will also get together with our high school buddies and be participating in activities within our classrooms as well.

5th grade is studying webs of life and matter. Through this unit we have learned about the essential parts of food webs. We wrapped up our unit with a game focusing on ecosystems and their balance of oxygen and Co2!



Join us for a short informational session on Sunday, March 2nd, at 4 pm @ Plankinton School in Mr. Bruinsma’s High School Computer Room, to learn the basics about completing the FAFSA by Mapping Your Future representatives. Following the informational session, we will help you and your student complete the FAFSA application. Please feel free to bring a computer or device to complete the application. We will also have computers available.

Please read the following notes if your child is participating in festival choir for grades 4th, 5th, & 6th. They leave at 7:30 Monday, March 3rd, with the concert at 4:00 at the Mitchell High School Performing Arts Center. Your child was given these notes today to bring home. If they do not bring them home, please print them off, as two of these notes need to be signed and returned to Mrs. Stoebner. Thanks!




The sixth grade science students have been learning about ecosystems as well as how energy and matter flow throughout food webs and food chains. They researched a specific ecosystem and gave a presentation about their findings, including highlighting a specific food chain.










the fourth graders have been learning about earths structures and how they form. today we learned about the different types of lava! they had lots of fun with an experiment!








The 8th grade science has been experimenting different chemical reactions. They combined different liquids and solids to see how the chemical reactions affected temperature. After discussing how cold packs help with injuries and are done through a chemical reaction, they then used this information to create their own cold packs.



Congrats to all the MVPCS wrestlers who took 6th place as a team at the region meet today in Wagner. Best of luck to those who placed 1st-4th as they will be wrestling at state on February 27-March 1st in Rapid City.
