Hello PSD Families:
FERPA - Family Education Rights & Privacy Act - Directory Information Form
FERPA allows the District to disclose "directory information" without written consent, unless you specifically request that information not be given out. A paper form was provided at Orientation & Open House. However, it did not include the information about the military & post secondary institutions options to opt-out. We do need that information. Please take a minute to complete the form online. Thank you.
You have two ways to access it.
If you have the Plankinton School District App:
Open up the app
Click on the Blue Menu Icon in the lower left-hand corner
Click on the Forms Icon
Click on the FERPA Tab to Open it
If you prefer to go to the website – please go to https://plankinton.k12.sd.us
on a computer. If you try to access the website version on your phone – you may not be able to see the entire set of questions.
Stay on the Homepage
Scroll Down to the News Section
You will see a clipboard/checklist icon, click on that to open it up
Once open, scroll down to the link
Click on the link and complete the checklist
Thank you for taking a moment to complete the FERPA checklist.
Results from State Golf 2024. Great work to our MVP Golfers on a great season!
We had some special guests in preschool today to teach us about fire safety. We also go to explore the firetrucks outside. Thank you Plankinton Fire Department!
October is Fire Safety Month! The first grade class wanted to thank the Plankinton Fire Department for visiting our class today, teaching us about fire safety and prevention! We had two members from the department come into the room and speak to us about how to prepare for an emergency, and demonstrate all their gear. We were then able to go outside and tour the fire trucks!
We were given 3 homework assignments to do with our families:
1. Plan an exit strategy for every space in your house in case of fire
2. Identify a safe space to meet outside of the home in an emergency
3. Memorize your address, it's needed to report an emergency to 911 operators!
All these things ensure the safety of families AND the members of our department!
The kindergarten class had so much fun visiting Baker's Pumpkin Patch!

The seventh-grade science class has been learning about meteorology. They worked together to create a news broadcast, including current/past events, sports, and a weather segment. They were in charge of creating their own scripts, broadcast material, and weather map. They then did all of the "behind the scenes" to set up their broadcast as well as filming the segment. Check them out on YouTube below.
